Tooth Decay

Detection

Tooth decay can often go unnoticed with symptoms often becoming apparent when the decay has become deep-rooted and harder to treat.

Tooth sensitivity and pain may only start to occur when bacteria and plaque have caused substantial damage, but this damage can be prevented before it spreads if you take advantage of 6 month check-ups at the dentist.

During a check-up we use magnification and lighting to highlight even the smallest level of decay. This can then be treated immediately. Tiny holes in the tooth may be invisible to the naked eye, but when found during a check-up these can be filled to prevent the development of decay and the need for advanced treatment.

A tooth may appear and feel healthy, but only a dentist will be able to tell if decay is present. This is done using magnification, lighting and X-rays to spot any problems and stop them before they develop.
